Trident Maple can reach 10 to 15 metres high. Its trunk is robust. Brown bark peeling and change colour with age, the shades of grey and brown-orange révellant. Its growth is rapid.
Trident Maple is a well right tree has a rounded Crown and sheds its leaves in the fall.
Its leaves, sound tri-lobées, above dark green, and blue-green below, taking shades of Orange and red in the fall.
The flowers are of a bright yellow and appear in the spring.
Hardiness zone : -26°C in winter. A standard soil in gardening is recommended and should provide good drainage. The tree prefers moist but not soggy soil. Keep a little drier soil in winter to minimize damages that cold can cause the roots. The roots of the Trident Maple contain a significant amount of water and are likely to be damaged by the cold. Easy to maintain, once established, it tolerates dry soil, the size and air pollution. Cultivate summer in a place partially waterless and in full sun the rest of the year.
Germination : seed must dip in slightly warm water for a period of 24-48 hours. Later, three months of stratification cold is required before planting in gardening soil. Keep the soil moist, not soggy. Germination can take a few months.
