Ficus Religiosa can reach 30 metres high and are trunk can develop up to 3 metres in diameter. When the leaves are born, they are red-pink color, turn to the dark green mature, reaching 12-18 cm long.

The leaves are attached to long flexible stems, which makes through in the wind. The foliage is usually dense. Pending leaves are heart shaped.

The tree loses its leaves for a brief period during the dry season. The trunk has smooth bark and grey. The trunk is becoming irregular with age.

The bark can develop brownish hues and flake.

The tree will eventually produce aerial roots, which will affect the soil, there enter, thus forming a new trunk. It is also grown as an ornamental tree or bonsai, and can be trimmed to the desired height.

The small red flowers appear in February.

Zone hardiness : 1ºC mini in winter.

Germination : seed do need no pretreatment. Seed 1 cm deep. Keep the soil moist, not soggy. The pot must be 20°C heat. Germination occurs in a few months, this may be more.
